"We live as a reflection of Christ." |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Reflecting Christ"Remain in me and I will remain in you." John 15:4 Jesus promises that he will be with us always. In the original Greek, the word meno, which is translated here as remain, also means to stay in a given place, state, relation or expectancy. That is an exciting word which only Jesus can promise. In this relationship of expectancy, we know that he is always with us and that we are his dwelling place. The one thing that King David asks in Psalm 27 is that he might dwell in the house of the Lord and gaze upon his beauty. Are we even more blessed than David because we ARE the dwelling place of the King of Glory and his beauty shines through us? For everyone in whom Christ remains is different from all other people on earth who do not dwell in him. So we live as a reflection of Christ. Now just because we received the spirit of Jesus by his atoning grace doesn't mean that we automatically think and act like him. We have to work out our salvation with fear and trembling and bring every thought into captivity to him. We can live our lives in obedience and rest in the assurance that he will remain in us simply because of the faith that we have placed in him. Thanks be to God! Copyright 2007, Calvin R.
